It is a fact that more and more people are looking into a truck driving career with the economy like it is. However, this is not a bad thing. With good pay and better benefits trucking companies are providing solid careers for many truckers.

Many truckers move goods depending on the season. Shipping companies work year around and move goods from boats, trains, and planes all the way to you local store and even living room.

During the spring time truckers will move seed, fertilizer, fuel and other equipment needed for farms. Also log truckers take to the woods moving valuable wood products as well as the supplies needed to harvest the wood.

Niche Trucking

There seems to be a surge of custom home delivery for goods and services. A good example is furniture movers and even fresh food distributors are finding niche markets for food.

Short haul trucking companies delivery goods in a limited area but sometimes might have to delivery further than expected. Some truckers may have a route that they take everyday such as a trip from Birmingham to Atlanta back to Birmingham.

With high gas prices and lower profits trucking companies are becoming more in tune with saving pennies and getting the jobs done. Some companies are finding great investment with hiring logistics experts to fine tune moving operations.

If you like a good home cooked meal everyday the long haul may not be your cup of tea. Sometimes good home cooking can be a hard thing to find on the lonely road.

So, if you are looking for the long haul or want to be a short haul trucker, the road can be a great place to start a long career. Think about the possibilities and keep on trucking to a new way of life!
