Starting A Web Business Is No Piece of Cake

There is no way to avoid those obnoxious internet ads claiming they alone have THE web business that anyone can do and make millions per week.

Are these people for real? First and foremost, what’s so one of a kind about it when they’re just pawning off a business that someone else pawned off on them for a nominal entry fee? Back-of-house marketing my patoot. All this is, is another attempt to help you spread around the money you made at your 9 to 5 job by offering you something that’s supposed to be so much better, but into which you will sink five times the amount of money and time you would have put into your J-O-B before throwing in the towel and going back to work so you can still make your mortgage payment.

It’s a Myth

The short form of the story is this: All those hawkers on the net who desire to convince you that they can make you an overnight millionaire are liars.

They may not be huge liars. They may be stretching the truth; spreading false hope, or fudging the truth a bit. Sure there will be testimonials aplenty by people who believed in them and actually did make some money. This boils down to a precious few of the suckers that never made a dime, and none of the people in the testimonials experienced overnight millions in their web business. If they were lucky, they broke even.

The Truth

Starting a web business is no different than starting a business in the real world. All business start-ups take courage, capital, tons of hard work and tenacity. You need to survey your market for the types of customers you need to target and make sure you tailor your business to fit their needs. This takes hours of work. Don’t even think you can start a business with part-time hours. You will be working hard 60-70 hours per week every week. You will be doing seemingly fruitless tasks because they must be done and you are the only one there to do them.

What they didn’t tell you is at some point you are going want to jump out the window, quit this nonsense and go back to work for the Man. You have no time for your family or friends. You have no social life. You haven’t had a good night’s sleep in months. As a matter of fact, you have no life at all.

Believe me. All those who have attempted a business start-up have been through this. A web business is not like opening up a pie shop on Main street in a small town. On the web, you are in competition with millions of other businesses catering to the masses from every corner of the planet. You will be scrambling to drive traffic to your web business – traffic that will buy your wares and return again and again. Customers that will spread your business name by word of mouth so others will jump on the bandwagon. There will be times when few even visit your site, let alone take advantage of what you have to offer. Then there are the times when an explosion of customer traffic occurs and you will be working 70 hour weeks to stay on top and probably slide off a bit.

When you start up your business on the web you are competing with thousands of businesses from every corner of the planet. You will be knocking yourself out to find ways to bring in customer traffic. There will be months when you don’t make enough money to buy groceries. On the other hand, there will be times when you are so busy and working such long hours that you don’t have time to eat anyway. Many tasks will simply not get done.

If the answer is yes, good for you. Time to set up that website and get crackin’. Um…why are you still here?

How To Find A Forex Broker

If you want to get involved with foreign currency exchange or Forex you will need a Forex account. That is obvious enough, I think, because it is just too costly, the overheads are just too high, to just go into the bank and buy a few thousand dollars worth of whichever currency you think will rise in value.

If you open a foreign currency trading account with a Forex broker, you will never actually see the notes of the currency you buy or sell, it is all done electronically and so the transaction is much cheaper..

You can find a Forex broker by typing those words into a search engine, but to be honest you are no better off then. You will have a list of names, sure, but you will still not know which one is best. If you trust my opinion, I would like to suggest that you start with my favourite. I say my favourite, but it is also the biggest online Forex trader in the world, turning over $70 billion each and every month.

Not only that but it has achieved all this, set up a business and risen to world pre-eminence since its establishment in 2002. That must tell you something, eh? The company’s name is Advanced Currency Markets. It is Swiss, but it has branches all around the world too.

There are many other Forex brokers as well. In fact, the numbers of Forex traders or brokers has mushroomed since home computers and the Internet became popular after about 1995. This means that unsurprisingly there are some that are worse than others and some that are virtually fictitious, so you would be wise to take a couple of measures before you part with any money.

The first thing to do is go to see the web site. Look around and try to get a feel for the place. Are there lots of spelling mistakes? are there dead links? Send a message to support, did you get a reply? Did it come fast enough for you?

Type the name into Google again with the word ‘problems’, such as ‘Advanced Currency Markets problems’. See what other people think of the company. Check out the company’s foreword about itself, do they make it sound as if you will be rich soon after opening a Forex account with them? If they do, beware.

You will be required to transfer money into your new Forex account sooner or later. This is normal and it should not concern you if the company is abroad, although I personally would stick with the USA, Europe, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. If you like, you could ask your bank to check out the recipient of your money, just to be sure. It may also give you cover, if you money goes missing.

It is much easier to avoid being scammed these days, as long as you do your groundwork. Research is the key on the Internet and the same holds true for when you are searching for a reliable online Forex broker.

What You Can Do to Stop Online Business Taking Over Your Life

Running an online business can, at first, seem a great plan. You don’t even have to leave the house to start work, and you’re not desperately trying to schedule work meetings around all the other things you’re trying to do during the day – getting dinner on the table, changing the baby’s diaper, putting the baby down for a nap, or even spending the odd spare hour or so with the person that you married. Work can be done in your own time, and at a pace that is comfortable for you. You have the advantages that being your own boss brings, without the associated responsibilities.

Then reality bites. An online business, like any business, still needs to be managed. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself working into the early hours, cancelling get-togethers with your friends, checking Twitter on your mobile during your child’s school play, and logging on to your laptop on vacation. Everything will be focused on meeting deadlines, and you’ll be left lamenting your loss of freedom.

You’ll soon begin to understand that managing a business is a continuous call on your time. Running an online business from home is possibly even more demanding than running a conventional business from an office. It’s not possible to escape work when you’re at home – you’ll be thinking about it at all times of the day, even when you’re trying to fit in your usual household chores, or spend time with your family.

When it comes down to it, running your business online can sap your energy as much as a regular business can. In fact, burnout could hit you even faster, as you don’t get a break, or chance to leave the office behind you at the end of the day. However, the advantages of not being trapped in a nine-to-five lifestyle may still be attractive to you. You may also want to keep your regular client and customer base. So, how do you make it work?

Establish set work and calling hours for your clientele.

Sure, flexibility is one of the things we appreciate most about working on the web. Believe it or not though, setting up a stable work schedule and sticking to it is the best thing you can do to keep the business you’re running from running you over. When you know when you have to work, you know when you get to have a life.

Establish a work schedule that suits your situation. This will probably mean setting a schedule of around eight hours a day; don’t make it more than ten hours. Once you’ve got your schedule in place, unless a genuine emergency arises, keep to it. When you’ve completed your scheduled hours for the day, pack everything away, and don’t come back to it until the next day. This strategy can help you to better manage your work and home time, and avoid reaching the crisis point of wanting to give the business up.

Focus your ‘to-do’ list on the ‘must-do-today’ items.

When you’re running a business, your daily to-do list is endless, and can quickly get out of control. Each day, start your work with a list that only contains the essential tasks to get done by the end of that day. Let’s face it, there’s always going to be more work to be done. At least this way, when you finish work for the day, you can be assured that the fundamental jobs have been dealt with.

Buy a cell phone with no access to the Internet.

This is an iffy one for most business owners, so I advise you to approach this particular piece of advice with caution. I personally couldn’t survive without being able to check my email on the road, but it does mean that I spend the entire day plugged into work. If you find you’re having trouble separating your work life from your home life and you need to get some distance, go out and pick up a phone that does nothing but make phone calls. You’ll thank yourself for it in the end.

If you want to stay sane and stop your online business from taking over your life, the solution is to compartmentalize your work and home life as much as possible. What are your best ideas for ensuring that online working doesn’t drive you nuts?

Do You Think Of Yourself As A Business Owner Or An Entrepreneur?

We live in the age of the entrepreneur. That’s not a bad sales pitch. As layoffs are slowly nudging shoppers back to mom and pop shops, and more individuals than ever are stretching their wings and setting out on their own, entrepreneurs are doing a booming business.

Entrepreneurship is the new black, ladies and gentlemen. Write it down.

An article written by Erika Napoletano at Redhead Writing brought up a good question. The question she asked was whether her reading audience was business owners or entrepreneurs. There really is a distinction between the two and it is an interesting one.

Are you in fact an entrepreneur, or are you a business owner?

Um…what’s the difference?

I’ll bet you don’t know and/or haven’t given it much thought. You would be with the majority of people on that one.

So what is the difference between an entrepreneur and a business owner? A business owner is one who owns a business. It may be one that they themselves have started. It may be one that they’ve purchased from someone else. It may be that they’re third or fourth generation. It doesn’t matter. The point is, they run their business and they run it well.

Running a business, however, does not by definition make you an entrepreneur. Starting a business does. If that business happens to be a bold new step in the right direction, well, that’s all the better, isn’t it? Eh…more or less.

If you’re thinking the entrepreneurial life is for you, I’ve got a few questions to toss your way.

1. Are you deathly afraid you’ll mess up? Being an entrepreneur all alone in your business life can be a frightening concept. The truth is you will err. You will err seriously. Chances are very good you will fall hard and will need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again, as the song goes. If this is abhorrent to you, do not become an entrepreneur.

2. Do you have a problem telling people what to do? You’d be amazed at how much harder it is to take the reins than it is to let someone else deal with the hard stuff. If you’re a pushover who thinks they want to be an entrepreneur, you need to get over it. Seriously.

3. Can you think on your feet? If you can’t think and make quick, reasoned decisions, do not become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs face head on a whole new world of obstacles they never even thought of before. Many of these obstacles require a decision to be made in 30 seconds or less. If you are unable to think on the fly, do not become an entrepreneur.

4. Are you too chicken to tell people what you’re about to do? Entrepreneurs have been called nutcases since the beginning of time. If you have an idea someone else hasn’t thought of yet, there’s obviously something wrong with you. Right? Well, that was kind of a given. But there’s going to be a lot of that in your future. Learn to look ‘em in the eye, and not to let it get to you.

Now you know what it takes to be an entrepreneur and how it differs from being a business owner. If you think entrepreneurship will work for you, go for it big time and good luck to you.

They are looking for loyal, motivated, hard working, qualified people at all levels of skill and experience. The auto shipping industry is a rather recent one, yet technologically advanced and provides some outstanding career opportunities with advancement and personal and career development potential even to the most inexperienced drivers or mechanics.

Jobs can be found the usual way: through classified advertising, car dealers, and online bidding sites. There is demand for auto shipping of general and specialized kinds, shipping of multiple or single vehicles, special shipping of traditional, vintage, collectible, customized or sports cars or various kinds. People move often nowadays. The various jobs available include auto-mover truck driver, shipping dispatcher, customer service representative, driver car hauler, CDL driver, military-vehicle shipping positions, truck fleet manager, and various auto mechanic positions, from novice through intermediate to senior, and many more.

Obviously, the industry hires truck drivers. In the auto shipping industry, however, this job is much more complicated and demanding of responsibility as the driver loads and unloads the vehicles, makes an inspection of all vehicles prior to delivery, communicates with the customers at pick up and drop off on top of the many miles of long distance driving over roads in all sorts of disrepair and possible inclement weather. All the time hauling valuable cargo which must be delivered punctually to many different destinations. The vehicles must be picked up and unloaded in varying states and across borders making each trip very lengthy, possibly many weeks to conclude. This is hard work. Not nearly the same as driving the local ice cream truck, but far more interesting and certainly far more remunerative.

The dispatcher in the auto shipping industry is actually a travel agent who takes orders and then lets the customer’s specifications be known to the trucking company. The dispatcher must establish communication between the customer and driver as to pick up, delivery and transportation times and certainly the cost of the entire process. The dispatcher/travel agent is very much involved in the planning of a customer vehicle’s trip, meaning that person must be highly organized and articulate. A carrier with many vehicles will have orders to deliver them to many differing destinations and the cost analysis in this type of project while still allowing for maximum customer service and profit for the shipping company is not a task for the faint-hearted or easily fatigued.

The client service representative is not responsible for any planning, but he or she does the crucial job of kindly providing fussy customers with all required information, including quotes by phone or email, and the job of placing orders with the dispatcher who then works with the company.

It is quite possibly the diesel mechanic that is the most critical piece of the whole picture in the auto shipping industry. There can be no auto transport company without the services of such an employee. One of the mechanic’s most crucial responsibilities is to thoroughly inspect and ensure the safety of all the trucks traveling under his jurisdiction. The job has high demands and requirements and is regarded with much respect and paid accordingly.

Finally, the auto processor performs the processing of customer cars between the different company terminals.

Companies often offer certified courses in some or all of the basic positions. Training for other positions can be done at community colleges, vocational schools, or even on the job.

The Good News And Bad News About Working From Home

Nobody’s going to deny that working from home is an amazing opportunity. No commute. Blend your work and family life without bringing it crumbling down around your ears. Etcetera, etcetera. What you might have missed however, is the fact that there are two sides to every story. If you’re stepping out into the wide, wonderful world of working from home believing that you’re stumbling into an unprecedented paradise, you’re sadly mistaken-and, if you’re not ready for it, could find yourself floundering before you’ve even had a chance to begin.

The Good Points

There is a major storm brewing outside my window and I am sitting in my union suit in front of the fire solving a client’s problem on my laptop. It just doesn’t get any better than that. I did not have to listen to the alarm go off this morning, rush through a cup of coffee, dress up in my dress-for-success clothes and head out into the storm for a possible two hour commute. I do not have to deal with annoying co-workers, bosses or tedious, sometimes downright embarrassing office politics.

Particularly if you have small children, working from home gives you a chance for a workable balance between your life and your work. You do not need to go into panic mode whenever one of the kids is sick or has a day off from school. You can make those doctor’s appointments and keep them for you and your kids without having to mumble something to your boss about taking a long lunch. Heck, you can take a whole day off and take the kids to the zoo and catch up later when the little darlings are in bed for the night. You also gain the personal reward of making a living and achieving something that makes you feel good about yourself.

The Bad

Working out of your home means just that – working. You are not a stay at home parent or a person on permanent vacation. Your time is not your own if you hope to be successful at what you do, whether at home or in an office.

You are doing this because you have to work to support you and your family.

Lots of people will turn a deaf ear to the fact that you “work” from home and will ask you to babysit during the day or some other chore, because after all you are home. Neighbors and friends drop in for morning coffee and want to chat until afternoon tea. You will be invited to play dates and luncheons and all sorts of events that take place during a work day. No one will believe you when you tell them you can’t make it because you work for a living.

You must get Caller ID for your telephone so you can avoid the socialites that wish to tie up your time and answer only the work related calls. Then, if the external distractions aren’t enough, there are always the internal ones.

Kids, dishes, laundry, housework, cats, dogs…you name it, it wants my attention during the day. It’s hard to block everything out and focus on what I need to do, which means working from home can leave me just as torn between my work and home responsibilities as I was when I was getting up and driving into the office every day.

The other internal bad guy is that laptop calling your name 24/7 to let you know about emails received, reports that could be edited for better comprehension and that potential client that could be cultivated RIGHT NOW. Working from home can be a seven day, 80 hour week just as much as the office job can be, and just like that office job, there will be some days where you just can’t win. So, working from home can be a wonderful way to earn a living. Just don’t go into it without realizing that as with everything else, there is a good side and a bad side.

Be a Stay at Home Mom and Get Paid

As mothers nothing makes us happier than to hold our newborn baby in our arms. We have spent nine long months carrying them around with us wherever we go and excitedly awaiting their arrival. We take our prenatal vitamins and do our best to protect our big bellies from anything that might hurt our baby. When they finally decide to make their appearance, nothing brings us more joy than to snuggle our baby close. There’s no doubt about it that the nine long, hard months were totally worth it when look down into our newborn child’s face.

The next few weeks while wonderful and amazing, are also difficult. We thought that the need to get up and go to the bathroom every hour would have prepared us for waking up and feeding the baby in the middle of the night, but it only takes a couple of nights for us to realize we have hit a totally new level of tiredness. Eventually though we begin to find our stride.

About six weeks into an infant’s life, the routine of changing diapers, feeding and dancing him to sleep become just another part of the day’s events. We get in sync with our babies and things return to normal. At this point, our maternity leave is about over and it’s time to go back to work. No matter how much we would love to stay home with our new little guy, we also must pay for his care, the roof over his head and his medical bills, to name just a few expenses. Back to work we go.

What if we could find a way to earn money and be home with our children at the same time? We all know that there are people who work from home but we consider this an unattainable luxury and wouldn’t know where to start to find something like this.

If we knew how to start and run an online business from home most of us would probably have already done it. Many of us want the luxury of being able to work and be a stay at home mom, but don’t see that as a possibility. With today’s technology however, anyone can learn to start and run their own notice.

Being your own boss and having the flexibility to work the hours of your choice is ideal, particularly when it comes to being with your kids. When you are in charge you can choose when you work and never miss a kid’s birthday party or holiday. The ability to make money operating your own business gives you the freedom to be there for your kids when they need you.

With all the software and information accessible so easily, your own successful business can be created and managed and still enable you to be home with your youngsters. You will never again miss a ballet recital or baseball game.

Holding your newborn in your arms gives you the feeling that you never want to let them go. The day will come all too soon when we must, but until that day comes, we can manage to be with them every day. Today we can choose to work and be with our kids at the same time. It is a fact, in today’s economy, no one gets off without working, but working for yourself from the comfort of your home at least gives you the freedom to pay bills and still put your family first.

Steps to Success in Shipping your Automobile

Before we learned to walk we crawled. Certain steps must be taken to get the job done correctly beginning with the simplistic and increasing the complexity on our way to a successful conclusion. The right tools for the job at hand is another requirement of successful completion. You can’t make wine without grapes. You can’t bake a cherry pie without cherries and an oven, you can’t play baseball without a bat and a ball. If you want to do something right, you need a plan and the appropriate tools. When it comes to shipping your auto, you need to undertake certain actions.

From stage one of the process to when you put your car on the carrier, there are some best auto shipping practices that should be observed and implemented. First step is to thoroughly research the auto shipping industry and the companies therein. Read pertinent articles, visit auto shipping websites, call local car dealerships to find out the company they would recommend, talk to people who have had experience with shipping their car. Once you have a background knowledge of the auto shipping business, you can prudently select a shipping company or a broker.

The next step is to get your documentation together. Necessary documents include driver’s license, registration, proof of insurance and vehicle specifications. Now, providing you have narrowed your search down to one auto transportation company or broker to work with, it is time to negotiate a price.

These costs depend on distance traveled, choice of shipping container type, shipment weight and expected timeframe of delivery along with various miscellaneous fees and expenses. When a deal is satisfactorily agreed upon, you must review all the terms and conditions of the contract with a keen eye on cancellation fees and insurance options. Make sure you discuss these in detail and are acutely aware of them and understand them completely. Once your deal is solidified, you are ready for the deal to come to fruition.

When your shipper has notified you of the times and dates of pickup and delivery for your car, you must prepare it for transport. Check and list such details as engine function, gas levels, security features and overall condition. After your car is inspected and picked up by the shipping company and your checklist is signed off by them and you, you need to follow up with the receiver of your vehicle.

Check in with the shipping company to make sure all is well and there are no further details to take care of. When you have been given confirmation of delivery and the condition of your car is satisfactory, you are expected to pay the remaining balance of the invoice. Wrap it all up with a thank you and positive feedback – you may be back. Follow these steps and all should flow smoothly.

Auto shipping is comprised of many steps and due diligence must be applied to all of them. Auto transport is a business that requires a vast amount of expertise and knowledge and decisions must not be made in haste. Do background checks, ask questions and prepare yourself for the unexpected and your car will have a successful journey.
