There are basically two types of allergens, which are the things that cause allergies. There are those that you are allergic to on touch and those that you are allergic to to consume. There are also items, like dust, that you are allergic to to inhale, but that is actually touch too.

It can be very problematic to discover the cause of an allergy, especially a food allergy, because they can be fatal. Wheat may be an allergy causing most frequently respiratory problems. This is another one to be very careful with because we use wheat in so many foodstuffs in the Developed world.

These eight allergens are responsible for about 90% of all allergies in the USA, but peoples are not the same in each country. The top eight allergies in China may be different, but the eight above are normally in the top ten in most countries.

Beryl – The Multi-Hued Gemstone

Many people might think that they would not recognize a beryl, but the fact is that beryl is a crystal that has a number of more well-known forms. Emeralds and Aquamarines are examples of more well-known beryl crystals. Emeralds are dark green, aquamarine is the colour of the sea and there is also a red beryl called bixbite.

As far as we know, the first emeralds were mined near the Red Sea in Egypt at Cleopatra’s Mines. This name was applied later as the mines were first productive 2,000 years before Cleopatra was born. It is considered that the secret location of the mine was lost and only rediscovered in 1818.

It is imagined that most of the emeralds used in the ancient Middle East and Europe came from these mines. The Cleopatra Mines have in fact been exhausted of high quality emeralds and are not mined any more. Columbia and Russia are the primary sources of emeralds these days

Australia and South Africa are also serious sources of emeralds. There are ten or so other sources of emeralds in the world, but they tend to be small or of low quality and of virtually no commercial value.

As stated above, beryls come in various colours under different names. In fact, the colours vary from peach to lavender, besides the more valuable greens and greeny-blues. The beryl that is most used in these other colours is morganite, which can vary from peach to lavender.

Morganite is not a valuable-sounding precious stone, so deceitful traders have tried to rebrand it as ‘Pink Emerald’ or ‘Pink Aquamarine’. Do not get fooled by these half-truths.

Morganite was first discovered in California, but there are also significant build-ups of it in Africa, Brazil and Russia. In spite of its poor status and lack of perceived value, morganite is quite scarce, which makes it a worthwhile present.

A different beryl crystal of a beautiful hue is heliodor, which means ‘gift of the sun’ due to its beautiful, golden, sun-like colour. Heliodor was not found until 1910 and was discovered close to a deposit of aquamarine in Namibia.

Since then, lodes of heliodor have been found in Brazil and Madagascar. The largest crystal of heliodor lies in the Hall of Gems at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC. It weighs in at 2,054 carats or 410.8 grammes (just over 14 ounces). It is faceted and so has been cut.

Two of the rarest variations of beryl are only to be found in America. Red beryl is discovered in the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah, but the stones are tiny and usually flawed with inclusions. However, red beryl is a gorgeous deep shade of red.

There is also a colourless, clear beryl called Goshenite, because it is only known in Goshen, Massachusetts. However, it must have been found elsewhere in the Ancient World, because it is considered that the Ancients used clear beryl for lenses.

The first specs were almost certainly also manufactured out of polished clear beryl.

There have always been criminals in any society. Wherever someone has wealth and enjoys prosperity due to their hard work, some other denizen of society who gives no effort into life comes and along and robs him of it. The most classic example of the criminal.

These guys were the worst of the worst in their time. They were the scum of the Earth, the ones that, when families saw their mug shots on television, would shield their kid’s eyes, as if their gaze had some strange powers. These were the reasons that America walks on eggshells with its prison system. It is a strange thing that such a free society breeds: you have these excellent freedoms, yet it is just hoped for that you will not abuse them. Unfortunately, while most of us follow our guidelines, guys like these don’t and it affects the rest of us harshly.

The criminals of old, the ones that would hold you up with their guns and then take all of your goods, although a force to be reckoned with no doubt, are child’s play to our crooks of today. The criminals of today have an overpowering advantage; technology is on their side. You might think that technology is really on the law’s side, making it easier and faster to get these criminals but in fact it just makes more easily concealed. The crooks have adopted the high tech equipment for themselves and become quite adept with it.

Consider the every day scene of crime A slick criminal who needed to get some cash would see an elegantly dressed individual, and judge their odds of being able to overpower them. They would then sprint all of the way to their hideout and lay low for a little while, until the police forgot about them.

These factors did not hurt the law too much though: with a well-staffed and highly trained police force, the thief was often caught quickly. Technology to the rescue then, right? Unfortunately, this is not all true. An automobile is the highest technology a criminal today needs to disappear; it doesn’t matter is they know the criminal’s name. If they can’t go out and get them, all of their data and leads are just paperweights. The Hello Kitty Brand Just Gets Better and Better

Over twenty years ago, I remember going to my local mall and buying all manner of things Hello Kitty. Back then, Hello Kitty was something new for little girls and even older girls. Today, Hello Kitty is still around and my twins like Hello Kitty too. That is cool! How I liked Hello Kitty fifty years ago!

Wow, that is a long time to share the love of Hello Kitty with much of kids and now my twins love her too. This lovable toy (character) appears to find its way through each generation. I remember when Hello Kitty was introduced into the marketplace, at least when I first saw her in shops and malls.

I remember my mall had a Hello Kitty store, full of all this Hello Kitty merchandise. I must have been nine or ten when I purchased my first Hello Kitty toy.

I was purchasing this gorgeous kitty cat and so were my friends. All my friends, from the district and school, had this little kitty and I remember taking mine to school and showing off my latest ?pet? toy.

You may think the Hello Kitty toy (character) was created in Japan, but that is incorrect. As it turns out, Hello Kitty and her family, were created in Europe in 1974. Now, the firm that makes this endearing character is Sanrio, a Japanese firm, but she was created in Europe.

Did you realise that Hello Kitty has a twin sister? Yes, her twin sister?s name is Mimi and her parents are George and Mary. It is as if these characters are real, in a sense. As I stated above, now my twins, who are not identical, like Hello Kitty and are best friends just like Mimi and Hello Kitty are.

The Hello Kitty brand has expanded in a big way. When this merchandise was first created, all that was available to little girls were some toys and note books. Now, almost everywhere you go, mall, strip mall, mass retailers and online, you will find clothing such as tank tops, shirts, sweaters, socks, boots, flip flops, umbrellas, watches, rings, necklaces, backpacks, luncheon boxes, clocks and so much more.

Anything you want can be found in their stores and online. There seem to be more goods online than in stores, but it appears more and more Hello Kitty products are being produced and added everyday.

Some more things you child might like are a selection of video games – there are quite a few video games to play these days. Along with video games, there are movies, books, stickers and tattoos. The theme of Hello Kitty goes on and on. It does not matter where your child is, they can get and or use Hello Kitty.

Good Night, Sleep Tight

Well-nigh every house had bed bugs before the Second World War, which meant that many people were bitten every night and hence the popularity of that rhyme. The Baby Boomers never saw bed bugs when they were children and so were the first generation for 400 years not to suffer from bed bug problems.

Fifty years on and the bed bugs are back and some big cities are in dismal straights because the insecticide that works best on bed bugs, DDT, is banned in most countries in the world. This means that the situation will get worse until researchers come up with something to replace DDT.

So, how would you know if your house has become victim to the spread of this superbug? It is not as simple as you would think, because bed bugs are fairly shy for insects. not only that, but they shun daylight and their dark skins blend into the shadows.

The first thing is to check for bites. The bites are normally a quarter of an inch in diameter, round and pink to red, if they show up, because they do not show up on some people. Similarly, some feel an itch but others do not; some will get a swelling, others will not. Not only that, but some individuals get an immediate reaction and others suffer a deferred reaction.

There is no confusing a bed bug bite with a mosquito bite although it can look like a flea bite. There are often five or six of these bites in a line, nut not necessarily a straight line. If you see these marks at bath time, it is time to check the bed for conclusive proof.

Strip the bed clothes back and look at the sheets and the mattress. It will be easier there because thy are normally light in colour. Look for red and brown smears. The red smears are blood, where the insect has consumed too much and vomitted up a bit and the brown is faeces of digested blood.

If you see those marks, you have got them, so now you have to get rid of them and that is not an easy task. If you rent your place tell the landlord instantly, because he might be liable for eradicating them. If you have funds, call in the exterminators. Otherwise, you have a lot of things to do.

If you may not move out whilst you are debugging the house at least you can clean the bed so that you may get a decent night’s sleep.. Remove the bedding and mattress and steam clean the bed (you can hire a steam cleaner). Then sew up any rents in the mattress and steam clean that.

Put the legs of the bed in small bowls of oil and place the mattress and pillows in bed bug proof mattress covers. Boil the sheets and blankets and replace, but do not let them hang on the floor at night. Put a mosquito net about your bed for further protection.. Christmas Eve Fun For Children

So, what are you going to do with the children on Christmas Eve to make the day that bit more special for them and tire them out enough so that they will sleep through to at least nine o’clock on Christmas Day, because that is the actual reason behind the party in the first place.

Some of these games can be played before or even on any big day and some may be modified for different age groups, because in essence, they are just ideas for you to play with.

1] Hire a face painter. Lots of students from the local art college can do face painting and children love it – girls particularly adore Hello Kitty and a face painter could do half a dozen kids in an hour. You could theme your face painting to match your party. Do this first thing to get the party moving along.

2] Some households have a tradition that everybody in the family is allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve, but that the rest have to be a surprise for the big day. So why not drag out the action of giving the present by turning it into a Treasure Hunt?

This is also a great means of getting the children out of the way, when you are worrying about those last minute items that you need to get on with. A lot of people keep old Christmas cards to cut up for decorative purposes, so you could compose clues on the cards and put them about the house and backyard.

3] A little more sedate, but still lots of fun, is a sing-song. Do this after tea to give the food chance to go down. You don’t have to sing carrols (in fact best not to, they will already have had enough of them).

Try some choral singing. Sit everybody around the room or in a circle outside and sing songs where a quarter of the circle starts, and the next quarter comes in after a few bars.

You might also attempt memory songs like: “I am the music man and I come from down your way and I can play….” or “Tomorrow is Christmas Day and in my Christmas stocking I will get an …Apple”, the following one repeats the refrain, but says an Apple and a Bunny” and so on to Z. A circle is also great for Chinese Whispers.

4] A different fun circle game is Musical Chairs and another is Pass The Parcel. Musical Chairs is a good game for using up some of the energy that eating will have restored to the party-goers.

So is Pass The Parcel although it is far more sedate in that the children remain seated. Both games get younger children to hoot with laughter and help tire them out.

5] A harder game is Where is Santa? A child is picked to be Rudolf and is escorted out of the room to get blindfolded whilst someone is picked to become Santa. Rudolf is brought back in and paced in the middle of the circle still blindfolded.

Santa has to wink at a variety of individuals who have to say “Yo, ho, ho”. Santa is the only one who never speaks.

6] How about Pin the Tail on the Reindeer for the final game and give a prize for the winner of every game.
