The Ford E-series is a functional and versatile van that has been around for quite some time; fifty years to be exact. It was previously dubbed by Ford as the Econoline but has since been renamed to the E-Series. It can easily seat 7-15 passengers depending on seat configurations. In addition it also offers towing capacity of up to ten thousand pounds. The exterior of the Econoline is no-nonsense and no-frills with a square front that resembles that of a truck.

Since this van has immense towing capacity it needs an engine with lots of muscle and torque in order to perform. The base engine puts out 225 hp and 286 lb feet of torque. The top of the live ten cylunder puts out 305 hp and 420 lb feet of torque. The ten cylinder is highly recommended if you plan to tow quite a bit. If you plan on driving lots of people around then the mid-level 5.4 Liter V8 would be a good option; this engine is a step up from the base model. Handling is not the best; however consumers of the E-series are more interested in towing and seating space.

There’s lots of rooms to customize this vehicle to your own whims and preferences. A few of the possibilities to add include Ford’s advanced Sync system, a navigation system with turn by turn directions. One very useful and rather unique option is Ford’s Work Solutions System which comes with a computer than can be used inside the van with an internet connection. This allows business owners to work while on the road. The second row of seats can be removed if you want extra space. This will also result in improved mileage since the vehicle will be lighter.

Let’s take a look at the vast array of safety features. Safety features include front air bags, four wheel anti lock brakes and stability control. A system is in place that uses radar technology and lets you know if you are in close proximity to hitting any objects when you are backing up out of your driveway or a tight parking spot.

If you are looking for a van that can do it all then you might want to explore this vehicle in further detail. The 2011 E-Series is priced to sell at around the $28k range. Pricing may vary depending on the trim and options selected.

Improved Technology And Mileage For The 2012 Ford Focus

Gas is quite pricey these days and who wants to drive a gas guzzler when it costs a ton to fill up? Not to mention the fact that autos with a high level of emissions do some serious damage to the environment and ozone layer. In times like these we all want an affordable car that is stylish and efficient. The 2012 Ford Focus has received an intense makeover and as a result it may just meet all of these qualifications. Ford has tightened up the suspension system, redesigned the chassis and added in an advanced cornering assist system which improves cornering.

Consumers who are tech lovers will enjoy the Focus’ numerous advanced tech systems. MyFord allows drivers to find out directions, use the phone and music functions by voice commands and touch. MyKey is a great tool for parents; it gives parents the ability to set the speed limit and set the audio volume when their kdis are driving. Also added is torque vectoring; this feature transfers torque to the wheels that need it and creates a closer connection to the road. Mileage stands at 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the freeway for the standard models. If you want even better economy the SFE package is available which boosts fuel economy up to 28 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway.

Safety features include B-pillar reinforcements which significantly improve vehicle strength plus air bags are also in place. The optional rear view camera also makes it easier to back up. The Electronic Stability Control and anti-lock brakes adjusts the brakes during critical moments in order to maintain stability. Rain sensing wipers are also standard; these wipers function immediately when in contact with rain. The Parking Assist is also a cool feature which can actually parallel park the vehicle by itself.

Under the hood you will find a robust 2.0 Liter V4 with 140 hp and 146 lb feet of torque equipped with direct injection in order to get the most out of your gas, resulting in big savings. However, as mentioned previously, the SFE package boosts mileage up to 40 mpg on the highway. These are very competitive numbers in the industry for a non-hybrid.

When you take the Focus out for a ride you’ll notice how quiet and smooth the ride is. This is due to the laminated windshield which is really good at keeping out exterior noise. Leather seats are available at an extra cost. Other options include a dual zone temperature control system and front seats which are adjustable with five different settings.

Pricing starts at the late $18k range; it will probably run to around $19k for the base model after taxes and license fees. With these revision in addition to exemplary mileage, the 2012 Focus proves that it has what it takes to compete in the competitive affordable small car market.

Sixty-Seven Project Mustang Fastbacks Becoming Rarer

The moment Ford unveiled the Mustang way back in 1964, the corporation had beat all of the rivals to the marketplace, nevertheless the various other motor vehicle manufacturers wound up being hot on their trail as a result. Together with the release of the 1967 Mustang, Chevrolet was in reality offering the newest pony-car competition, the Camaro. Concurrently, the various other automobile manufacturers seemed to be starting to rise to the challenge at the same time. Pontiac engineered the Firebird, Plymouth offered the Barracuda, and Mercury launched a new brand, the Cougar.

The pony car rush was on. Ford had to stem the onslaught of competition that faced the much-loved 1967 upgrade. The only problem was that in 1967, Mustangs dropped in gross sales somewhat. Not only its competitors was entering the market, but also many consumers didn’t like the fact that it’s bodyweight was heavier that the prior model years. Nowdays, it is a completely different situation with classic car connoisseurs because the new bulkier characteristics set this Mustang above and beyond other similar vehicles of the mid-sixties.

This did not mean the ‘67 been unsuccessful, quite contraire! Simple fact was that in 1967 there was 325,000 standard coupes at $2,461 each sold by Ford. In the muscle car collector’s world, the top notch 1967 Mustangs needed to be the fastback variation. This is for a valid reason. Only 50,000 Mustangs in fastback style sold in spite of being merely $200 higher in cost than the coupe version.

The ‘66 fastback dropped 50% in gross sales from the previous year and this may have generated the lack of sales in the ‘67 unit. Classic automobile auctions are the best approach to take in locating these rare fastbacks.

Due to the scarcity, finding a ‘67 Mustang fastback project on the market can take lots of patience. Prepare yourself to travel a great deal, even so the internet makes it a lot easier to chase down leads on these cars. If you’re going for a project car, realize that the junkyard automobile that you will end up looking at most likely will have critical inadequacies. The quest can be just about be as satisfying as the restoration. I think about it much like the tv show on cable tv called American Pickers. You never know what you’ll find.

There is no doubt that body rust is amongst the biggest issues when looking for old muscle cars of the time. It genuinely helps us when we find good old classic cars that don’t need a lot done in regards to body work. But if you are thinking about the ‘67 fastback Mustang, pickers can’t be choosy. These cars are rare creatures. However, you will not regret it.

The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Is A Superb Muscle Car

The old GT500 version of the Ford Mustang proved to be a preference among automotive enthusiasts. Now 2011 marks the return of the 5.4 liter aluminum engine. This car packs an impressive 550 horsepower. The all new GT500 is a lot more lightweight and faster and best of all, the 5.4 liter engine is finally back after all these years. These factors all make up for an tremendous muscle car. Plus this version comes tuned by SVT Performance which added components to the suspension. This new 2011 Ford Shelby also gets lightweight wheels with better performing rubber.

This immense muscle car weights a total of 3820 pounds which is 100 pounds lighter than the 2010 model. Also the weight is better distributed at 57/43 front to rear weight distribution. The performance is near Ferrari territory, all coming from a car with a gigantic 5.0 liter V-8 engine under the hood. Speaking of the engine lets crack this puppy open. Most significantly the engine block is not made of aluminum instead of iron. The aluminum block is not only lighter, but it can distribute heat easier. Why is heat such an important factor?? Well the 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 has a big supercharger sting on top of the engine. The Shelby also has DOHC which control 32 valves for efficiently moving air and exhaust out of the cylinder. Out back the 550 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque is transferred to the pavement through a 3.37 limited-slip rear end.

A Supercharged Muscle car like the GT500 is expected to perform fast and that’s what this car does! The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 can clip off 0-60 MPH in the low 4-second range. The mile drag is over in 12 seconds flat at 115 MPH. This all from a car costing $50,000. This type of performance is customarily found in cars that are much more pricier such as as the fancy Lamborghini or Ferrari. Believe it or not the car is pretty good on gas. Avoiding the extra gas tax imposed on gas guzzlers, the 2011 Shelby GT500 gets 15 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. These are all great figures considering you have 540 HP available under your foot.

Front and side curtain air bags are standard in the Ford Shelby. This Shelby also received good score on crash safety from not only the NTHSA but also the IIHS. These are the two governing bodies on crash test safety and data in the U.S. One reason for the good score is the addition of traction control which helps to avoid spinouts and stability control which helps to avoid accidents. And a 60 month/60,00 mile warranty is standard.

The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 is well within reach of Mustang enthusiasts at $50,000. And if the last few years of sales numbers are any indicator; you should see a Shelby GT500 prowling the streets near you. Oh and the sport stripes are phenomenal and gives this car a great sporty look!

2011 Ford Fiesta- One More Reason for Ford to Party

The Ford Fiesta made its debut in the US and abroad in 1976. In those days it was just another economy car that simply underwhelmed American drivers. Although the Fiesta remained popular in Europe it did not return to American shores until this year. Three decades of European road tests and continuous upgrades have completely transformed this efficient car. Before bringing it back to The States, Ford spent significant time considering what appeals to American drivers. According to Ford, the Fiesta was designed to “physically engage the senses” and we Americans love that touchy feely stuff.

The Ford Motor Company has been delighted to see that their new offering has been well received by the mass consuming, economy seeking, American public. It could be the low price point under $13,500 or the great mileage ratings (29 city, 40 hwy) that people are responding to but it could also be the whimsical exterior of Fiesta that has caught so much attention.. At first glance the new Fiesta appears to be a distant relative to the June bug, especially when wearing its exclusive “Lime Squeeze Metallic” exterior color. The oval body shape is lower in the front and higher in the back making the Fiesta appear as if it’s about to launch into flight. When it is traveling straight toward you, the Dragon’s-eye headlamps complete its insect-like appearance. If you don’t like bugs, Ford is offering six additional colors which make it look more like a car. These include; Oxford White and lots of metallics in hues of: Yellow Blaze, Bright Magenta, Monterey Gray, Blue Flame, Tuxedo Black, Red Candy and Ingot Silver.

The interior incorporates most of the “engaging to the senses” features cleverly designed by Ford. For starters, Ford incorporated plenty of sound deadening materials in the headliner, doors and pillars and added an acoustic laminated windshield to keep the interior exceptionally quiet. The Fiesta has available luxuries such as leather trimmed seats, power moon roof and heated front leather seats, unlike any competitor in its class. . A 4″ multifunctional LCD display screen for phone info, audio settings and other data is positioned in the direct line of sight with red, easy to read text. Ford loaded the Fiesta with technology as well, including their Intelligent Access push-button start ignition system and the Ford-exclusive SYNC system which allows for voice activated, hands free communication.

A 1.6-liter twin-independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) Duratec Engine lies under the hood of the Fiesta.. Eliminated drag and optimum fuel economy is achieved by the available PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission. . Service visits are reduced as well by the fill-for-life transmission fluid system which is designed to last up to 150,000 miles and is virtually maintenance free. An electric powered rack and pinion steering system with AdvanceTrac makes the Fiesta nimble and ultra responsive. Car and Driver gave the new Ford Fiesta a high ranking in their fun-to-drive (FTD) factor and they were “thoroughly impressed with the Fiesta’s eager agility and exceptional road-holding.”

With any small vehicle, driver and passenger safety is always a concern. The new Fiesta is packed with more airbags than any other vehicle in its class. A total of seven airbags are standard for the Fiesta. Ford even included an innovative driver’s knee airbag to create a cushion between the driver and the instrument panel in the event of an accident. The future looks bright for this little bug of a car which seems to have a perfect combination of compact size, compact price, smart technology and safety.
