When I got accepted into college, I knew I had to shop for a netbook. Not a laptop but a netbook. Laptops are huge, heavy, and inconvenient to bring to class. Compared to laptops, netbooks are a lot smaller and easy to carry.
I did not need a quad core processor or a 17 inch screen. I also did not have any need for a terabyte hard drive. A slow working device was enough for me. My needs where simple – word processing, Wi-Fi capability, and making presentations. I also needed something to fit my regular back pack.
There are specific features that I looked for when I purchased my netbook. Even if I did not have much processing power, I still needed the most updated OS. Back then, Windows 7 just came up so I didn’t go for a netbook with XP on it. Portability is important because I had to move around campus. I had the option to get a 15″ laptop but I still preferred the netbook because of its weight. Intel Atom was enough for my processing needs. I got one with a 1.60 GHz Intel Atom.
One feature that I was really pertinent about is wireless capability. There are various Wi-Fi zones and device compatibility is key. Aside from Wi-Fi capability, I also wanted Bluetooth connectivity. I didn’t mind if my device did not have an optical drive because I easily got myself an external optical drive.
Finally, the package that I purchased included a 1 year subscription to Norton. Due to the nature of netbooks as being used primarily for internet purposes, getting an antivirus subscription is essential. If you are looking for a netbook yourself, try to get one online. You can even get refurbished netbooks that cost a lot less. But you need to be careful on refurbished netbooks for sale. It would be best to get them from authorized resellers.
