Various Sorts Of Satellite Navigation Systems

It is a bizarre fact that many buyers of new cars are ready to pay several times the real value of a satellite navigation system in order to have it fitted by the manufacturer. It is true that the car’s manufacturer usually does an excellent job of installing the device, but then you are paying a premium for it.

If you purchased the sat nav unit separately and had it fitted by a third party, you would get it for a third or a quarter of the cost. Still, it is part of the idea of having a new car to have all the latest gadgets built in to it. Satellite navigation, commonly called sat nav, is a real boon, if you buy a system that is up-to-date and that is frequently updated.

It is not necessary to have the sat nav installed in the car factory in order to have it fitted well. Many third party installers are quite capable of making a good job of it too without having to have your radio/CD player taken out.

Many auto navigation systems are fitted to the dashboard by means of rubber suction cups anyway. Buying a sat nav unit that does not have to have holes cut for it will also keep the cost to a minimum without having to sacrifice quality or safety.

An important issue to remember is that there are many types of GPS systems, each with rather specific uses. GPS for an ocean-going yacht does not have to have road maps, whereas GPS for a bicycle may not give enough advanced warning for the speed of a car.

Even if you purchase a GPS sat nav device for a road vehicle, there are different varieties. The three basic kinds are: stand-alone, such as you see fitted at the car factory; hand-held and systems that are meant to be used with a laptop computer or similar device.

The stand-alone systems are the most prevalent, because they have various advantages: they are made for the job of getting you from A to B via C, D and E, if required; they carry a database of landmarks which will help you know that you are on the correct road; a voice will give you directions so that yo do not have to keep looking at the screen and it will memorize and integrate earlier routes.

Hand-held sat nav systems work, but require more thought and sometimes additional software to be provided by the user. The screen is usually too small to be of much use and some only create voice directions. Others only provide graphic directions. However, they are better than nothing if you are walking or cycling in unknown terrain.

Laptops and PDA’s provide an excellent service, especially if you already had the apparatus for other purposes such as office work.

So, it is not just a question of getting hold of a cheap sat nav system and thinking that they are all the same, you have to see it working so that you can weigh up whether it is going to be of any use to you in your situation.

Owen Jones, the writer of this article writes on various topics, but is presently involved with the Snooper sat nav system. If you would like to know more, please go to our website at Escort 8500.

Myths About Hybrid Cars

If you are thinking about a hybrid car, you may be hearing quite a bit of “talk”. Some people think the hybrid car is the best thing on the market. Some people say it’ll just pass. Other people say they think they can save a lot of money, but you’re not sure it’s really worth it. What’s the truth, and how do you separate myth from fact with all of the stuff that is being thrown at you? Below, you can read and understand the common hybrid car myths.

Hybrid cars are the same as electric cars: This is untrue because hybrid cars are fuel-powered for the most part. They have what are called ‘battery assists’. The assist is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery pack that is rechargeable.

You are guaranteed to save money with a hybrid vehicle: If you are doing city motoring, you may save fuel and you may not. The same goes for long-distance driving. There are so just many different factors involved. It has been said that if everyone bought a hybrid car, the fuel consumption would decrease by only 10%. That’s not a very big decline, now is it?

A hybrid vehicle’s battery can run out: A hybrid car battery should not run flat while you are actually driving it. The engine of a hybrid vehicle does not idle when stopped (at a red traffic light for example). What does it do then? Well, it recharges its battery. So there is no need to worry about a hybrid car stopping for that reason.

The hybrid car’s rechargeable battery lasts only for 2 years: A hybrid car certainly would not be worth purchasing if this was the case. A hybrid car’s rechargeable batteries usually come with an eight-year warranty.

If I run out of fuel, I can keep driving on the hybrid car battery: Keep in mind, a hybrid car’s battery is an assist. That means that hybrid car’s still run on fuel. After you run out of gas, the battery may keep the car running for a little while. However, the car will stop running very soon.

Hybrid vehicles will soon put normal car dealers out of business: This probably won’t take place anytime soon. The reason for the delay has to do with the how much hybrids cost. Most people just can’t afford one. Also, people just aren’t certain whether they will really save money by buying a hybrid car. Therefore, they are slow to join the stream of people who want to buy a hybrid vehicle.

Hybrid cars will only save you about $88 a year: I did hear something on the news about this one day, but it may not be true. If there’s something you really want though, and there’s a lot of smoke surrounding it, you simply have to start digging and do some of your own research. There are many different models of hybrid car, and many different manufacturers make them. This means that there may be many more variables involved than the ones discussed here. A hybrid car may help you, and it may not, but the final decision is all yours.

Therefore, please don’t worry too much about what other people tell you. They probably have only listened to others passing on gossip. Do your own research and think it out for yourself. Use the Internet to get your information. The manufacturer’s literature is also quite useful, if you stick to reading the facts and gloss over the hype. Check that whatever the literature claims is also in the guarantee.

Help A Charity Organization Through Donating A Car

There are many ways to support one’s favorite charity. Donating one’s time and resources is always welcome. People can give money, food and used items like shoes, clothes and furniture. Donating a car is another thing they can do, and get a tax deduction in the process.

Actually, any old or unused vehicle – trucks, vans, SUVs – can be donated to charity. Even if they are no longer running or in need of extensive repair, charitable organizations will still take them and put them to good use. They can either fix them then give them to deserving families or individuals, or they can sell them and use the sales proceeds for other projects.

Repairable vehicles can be fixed and given to families who need it. These families cannot afford to buy cars, but they need their own transportation to be able to access better jobs. Having their own vehicle would also enable them to move to better areas in terms of living conditions, but commuting to shops and jobs is not a good option in some cases. A car donation charity can help them overcome these difficulties and make a better life for themselves and their families.

Even donated vehicles that are too old or too damaged can still be used to benefit the people supported by charities. By selling them for parts or scrap metal, the charity can raise money to fund other projects and activities. The money can also be used to sponsor children or offset operation costs.

Some people might say that donating a car to charity is not the only option for people who want to dispose of their old, unused or damaged vehicles. That is true. However, the two most common alternatives, selling their car themselves and trading them in a dealership, requires a significant amount of time and effort from vehicle owners.

Selling one’s car is not easy. One has to put up ads, answer inquiries, oversee test drives and try to close the sale with a prospective buyer. Car owners can try trading their vehicle in a dealership to avoid the inconveniences of trying to do the selling themselves, but they may never be sure that they are getting a fair price. Donating their car to charitable organizations is an easier process that gets them a tax deduction at the same time.

It is important for donors to get the fair market value of their vehicle, since the tax deduction will be based on this. However, if the charity is selling the vehicle, the tax deduction is equivalent to the amount that it is sold for. For instance, a car valued at $1500 but is sold for $1000 entitles the donor to a $1000 tax break.

Donating a car or other types of vehicles is a generous way of showing support to a deserving charity. By being able to provide other families their own transportation or giving the charity another means to fund projects, donors are making a difference in other people’s lives, whether they know it or not. Getting a tax break is just icing on the cake.

Should you have a car that may not sell for much, why not look into donating a car to one of the many charity organizations in your city or town. Finding a car donation charity is worthwhile and will count as a deduction on your taxes.

Model RC Sports Cars

Do your interests in model remote control cars lie in high speed, rapid acceleration and magnificence of form? If this is exactly what you are looking for in a model vehicle, then a model sports car is almost certainly what you are looking for. Authentic size sports cars are a $4.5 billion industry with about 55,000 units being sold every year.

Sports cars and their model counterparts are built as high performance machines, which means that they can be driven in ways that normal production line cars can not. For example, in the case of a real sports car, it frequently takes no more than five seconds to travel at from 0 to 100 mph. Similarly in a model high performance gas reproduction, it often takes no more than two seconds to reach 60 mph from a standing start.

Because it is more difficult to manouevre a speeding vehicle, sports cars and model sports cars are especially designed to handle best at high speeds. In deed, the word “sporty” was coined to refer to a sleek but robust design that exudes power. It was later personified to refer to the person behind the wheel or in the modelling world, the person at the remote controls.

The following is a basic glossary of sports car terminology and a basic directory of sports car manufacturers (many of which have their counterpart cars in the world of model gas remote control cars).

- FF – front engine, front wheel drive. The FF layout has a moderate capability for high speed handling and is seen in some models such as the Fiat Coup?, and the Lotus Elan M100.

- FR – front engine, rear wheel drive Considered the ?classic? sports car layout, the engine drives the rear wheels but keeps the weight off the back. The FR is good at drifting corners while still maintaining control. Mercedes-Benz is recognized for using this design for its models.

- RR – rear engine, rear wheel drive With the engine at the back driving the rear wheels, weight placement on a RR layout provides outstanding traction for a car. However, without auxiliary driving aids like stability control, handling becomes difficult. These days, the only manufacturer who keeps the RR layout for its cars is Porche.

AWD – all wheel drive An AWD design provides optimum handling, making it perfect for those who are just starting to race sports cars. Audi began the widespread use of this system with the Quattro. Japanese manufacturers like Mitsubishi employed this layout to enhance handling, making it an excellent rally car.

Because of more stringent regulations in the United States, sports car manufacturers are more prevalent in Europe than in America. Nonetheless, American brands are in equal competition with their European and Asian counterparts. Some recognized manufacturers and models are:

Alfa Romeo; Alpine; Aston Martin; Austin-Healey; BMW; Bugatti; Caterham; Davrian; De Lorean; Ferrari; Fisker; Jaguar; Koenigsegg; Lamborghini; Lotus; McLaren; Maserati; MG; Morgan; Panoz; Porsche; Triumph; TVR; Vector.

If this article has whetted your appetite for a sports car, go out and buy one now, if you are wealthy. If not, why not do the next best thing and buy yourself a 1:8 or even a 1:5 petrol-powered, remote-controlled sports car?

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with the petrol remote control car. If you have an interest in model or toy rc vehicles, please go over to our website now at 1/5 Scale RC Cars

Donate Car To Charity Even With Parking Violations For Car Donation Tax Deduction

There are many people these days that are on the lookout for assistance to donate a car to charity. This is because these people may have a number of vehicles and most of them are impending to go to the junk site since they have not been used for a very long time. With this, they would rather opt to donate it to charity.

But apart from just donating, people would also like to take advantage of the car donation tax deduction that comes with the donation procedures. This will be a great assistance for their taxes once they have filed them properly. And if you like a bigger return this can help with that.

However, one of the main questions people have is whether they can donate cars to charity even if the car has some parking violations on it? The answer is that they can still donate them to get a car donation tax deduction by following these steps.

First of all, do the regular car donation procedures. This is much the same as if you were donating a car without any parking violations. This will insure you do the things that you are supposed to do. Then find the charity where you want to donate your car for the best purpose.

After finding the charity, it’s very important to fill out the documents that will be helpful for the whole transfer so that the new title holder or owner will be the receiving charity. Aside from this, proper documents should also be provided so they can document the transfer properly.

Third, it is also important for the donor to keep copies of the several documents. The reason for this is that it will be needed once you file your tax return for benefits.

Fourth, you now need to remove the plate number from the car. Doing this will benefit both the donor and the receiver. First of all, it will prevent the new owner from shouldering the parking tickets that the donor has obtained. For the donor, it will also save them from any parking violations that they have incurred. The charity can get another license plate now that they are the new owner of the vehicle.

Last, but definitely not least, it is also mandatory to let both the general and local Division of Motor Vehicles offices know about the donation and title transfer. If these steps are followed properly, a person will be able to donate cars to charity without any problems and have the car donation tax deduction that they want to obtain.

If you have ever considered the idea to donate car to charity there are many car donation programs that are available for your benefit. Why not donate your car and you can receive a car donation tax deduction in the process. In the long run this will save you money and give you a chance for charity.

Remote Controlled Models – The Helicopter

If you like remote controlled models and have lots of space, then you may want to think about purchasing one of the new big remote control helicopters that have recently been introduced by several makes. These helicopters, which can sometimes be as big as ten feet long, rival genuine helicopters in agility. They are expensive and can cost three thousand dollars or more.

As with many fads, some people just have to possess one of their own. So, the next time you are walking in the park and you see a helicopter flying around, look again closely. At first you will probably think that it is a real helicopter that is just further away then you first thought. But look again and you will almost certainly see someone controlling the helicopter with a huge remote control unit.

If you see one of these remote controlled helicopters in flight, consider yourself very lucky. Because it is so costly to own one of these beauties, they are also still pretty rare. However, because I am an ardent collector myself, I have considered buying one of these big remote control helicopters, and I even put a bid on one in Ebay once, but in the end I did not get it and instead decided to wait until the cost comes down a bit more.

Just as with any new, trendy item, big remote control helicopters are the latest fad, but in a few years, I am sure there will be a better supply and the price will fall. Then I will be ready and waiting to buy. But until then, I have a very bighearted and rich friend who owns one, and I will rehearse flying his. I have already taken it out once – it is so much more powerful than the normal, small remote control helicopters that you are most likely used to. When you first turn it on, the big remote control helicopter?s rotors spin with such ferociousness, that you may worry that you are going to break something. and then, when it lifts off the ground, you will experience a huge sense of achievement, knowing that you are the one who is controlling it.

And if you are able to make a successful, smooth landing as well, then you can truly call yourself a helicopter pilot, because even those very experienced with small remote control helicopters will be impressed to see someone land a big remote control helicopter, because it truly is completely different. So if you happen to be lucky, rich, or just determined enough to acquire one of your own, take pleasure in your time with your large helicopter.

I assure you that it will be one of the most exciting experiences of your life. For me, the entire event was unreal, and when it was all over, I had to phone everyone I knew and tell them how I had flown a 10 foot helicopter and landed it smoothly. I bet that?s how pilots feel the first time they fly a real aircraft.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with remote controlled trucks. If you have an interest in model or toy rc vehicles, please go over to our website now at 1/5 Scale RC Cars
